Ladies, Here Are 150 Brands And Their Political Affiliations in 2024

Updated Nov 11 2024

At Ideate Labs- UX courses for Women and Allies, we are disappointed and saddened by the election results of 2024.

We are especially saddened by the threat towards basic human rights and the basic dignity of women, immigrants, the LGBTQ community and BIPOC everywhere in the world.

After taking some time to process and grieve, we are now more committed than ever to continuing to grow and build organic communities where women, immigrants, LGBTQ folks and BIPOC feel safe, seen, heard, and supported.

At Ideate Labs, our mission is to help women, immigrants, LGBTQ folks and BIPOC break into tech, earn 6-figure salaries, and/or potentially start their own businesses or side hustles. Now more than ever, financial independence is crucial for our communities.

In addition to our mission, we want to be able to place women, immigrants, LGBTQ folks and POC in Fortune 500 companies and large brands that VALUE and RESPECT them. When searching for your next UX job or tech job, keep these brand affiliations in mind, especially as you work your way up the corporate ladder.

Did you know that women influence over 85% of US consumer spending in 2024?

Yes ladies, that is correct. You hold more power and influence than you know. This number is projected to be 75% by 2028. Now is the time to act and boycott brands or restrict use of brands that do not align with our values and ethics. For us, we choose to boycott Republican affiliated brands and a few Democrat affiliated ones. We plan to shift as much spending as we can towards supporting local small businesses, women-owned businesses, immigrant-owned businesses, LGBTQ-owned businesses, and Black-owned businesses of all political affiliations that align with our ethics and values.

We utilized an app called Goods Unite Us to check what brands we would like to boycott or limit for the rest of eternity.

We also used the app to see what brands are more inclusive of the communities we support in 2024 (i.e., women, POC, immigrants, LGBTQ folks), given the attack on our basic rights and dignity. We recommend ALSO checking shareholders and investors in these companies, as certain shareholders and investors tend to be more conservative and that could influence your decisions as well. For us, we choose to align with Democratic affiliated brands as these brands could feel safer to work for as women, immigrants, members of the LGBTQ community, and as people of color.

This is our political perspective in 2024, as we choose to follow our ethics and principles, no matter how popular or unpopular it is with mainstream crowds. As a reader, you have every right to make your own decisions based on this data and your political affiliations, ethics, and principles.

We will always stand up for social justice for vulnerable and marginalized communities. As a brand that strives to find balance between inclusive design and business impact, we remain optimistic and hopeful that we ALL have more that unties us, rather than polarizes us. We feel the anger and frustration and weight of an American economy that makes it hard to make ends meet and survive, forcing folks to take on multiple side hustles or work multiple jobs. We’ve seen first hand the struggles of job changers and job seekers in the tech market.

We don’t think the current administration solved this problem and we don’t think the future one will either. As designers, we are all aware that we need to redesign a broken system as a collective whole. We are also aware that we need a redesign based on inter-connectedness, rather than polarization. Polarization leads to bandaid solutions. Inter-connectedness solves root cause issues. So, to the folks who both AGREE and DISAGREE with us, we invite you to open your mind to an inclusive design workshop to see what we have to say when we talk about redesigning systems for the greater good.

Ladies, here are 50 brands that supported Republican initiatives in 2024:

While some of the brands we are choosing to boycott are actually blue on the app, we give our reasons for including them in our list. All brands listed provided medium- very high contributions:

  1. Amazon (including Amazon Prime, Whole Foods, Washington Post) - While Amazon donated 57% towards Democrats and 43% towards Republicans in 2024, the company has an enormous carbon footprint and it’s no longer sustainable for our planet to utilize Amazon as much as we do. Amazon has never cared about worker conditions and needs and probably never will. We were also disheartened by Bezos’ decision to prevent the Washington Post from endorsing a candidate. Not cool controlling the press, Bezos.

  2. Meta - donated 46% Democrat, 54% Republican. We plan to limit our ads spend on Meta. I personally have deleted my Facebook account, but still use Instagram to stay in touch with communities I love and friends.

  3. Tesla, Space X, X - While Tesla donated 51% towards Democrats, and 49% towards Republicans, its no secret that Elon Musk is using his millions to influence the election and gain more positions of power within the government. We haven’t logged into X for the last 4 years, and don’t plan on re-logging in.
